Some pictures from the last few weeks

Since most people are gone from the center right now, I can finally post some pictures from my trips so far. I'm sorry they are so late, but I have been so busy I have barely had time to sleep! Here are a few of my favorites:

This is a picture of the center of Atenas as seen from the church. The park is a very popular place for people to gather to meet with friends and family. Since Atenas is fairly small, you are guaranteed to meet up with at least five or six people that you know here. Families take their children to play under the trees, and teenagers come to hang out with their friends. Old men are also very prevalent, and love to sit on the benches or nearby steps to gossip.

My first experience in a tropical rainforest! It was absolutely beautiful, and I couldn’t get over how GREEN everything was!

Poison dart frog on El Zota farm. They were everywhere, and all different colors!

Just a picture of the countryside as seen on a bus ride.

El Zota farm

The founder of Monteverde Cloud forest; we happened to come across him as we were hiking one of the trails. My professor knew him well (he’s done a lot of research in this park). Without this gentleman, this beautiful place would most likely be banana plantations.

The suspension bridge in Monteverde. It let you walk through the canopy of the forest. I came here multiple times during my stay here.

A white faced capuchin monkey that followed us in the hopes of stealing our food. He would pose for the cameras because he’s learned from previous visitors that they will reward him for that behavior.

The trash beach- a result of poor waste management.

El Sur- This little boy was taking his pet mouse for a walk!

El Sur- 6am milking cows!

                                     CROCS!!

The road in El Sur and bridge so you didn't have to get wet.
